1. Grasp the cutter at the handle and by the thumb rest.
2. With free hand, release the blade guard by pushing the release tab away from the cutter.
3. Guide the blade guard away from the release tab and downward, until it snaps into place at the LOCKING NOTCH.

4. Rest the unopened package on a solid, stable surface, like a table —NEVER against your body.
5. Puncture the "clamshell"--that awful, rigid, see-through container that spits in the face of scissors, knives, utility knives, hands, and, of course, teeth.
6. Leave the Open-sezz-me™ blade inserted in the clamshell.
7. Steadying your package on the abovementioned solid surface, guide the cutting tool in a pulling direction (see arrows at right) around the clamshell—KEEP FINGERS WELL AWAY FROM THE BLADE.
8. After removing your purchase from the clamshell, close the blade guard by rotating it upward and snapping it closed.
